Can't really post a real blog entry. My left arm is entirely covered in what we think is spider bites that I got in my sleep last night. I can barely use my arm. S is taking me to the emergency room tomorrow if things aren't better by then.
I'm terrified my hand is going to fall off or something. Also, Girl Child is mad at me because I asked her to please not play her guitar out here right now. I just can't win.

The Captain Obvious Club has a New Member!
I'm back from my trip to Topeka.
This morning, my phone played my text message tone several times back to back (the Final Fantasy X victory fanfare), and S said, "You have texts!" I said, "Yes," and she said, "I'm Captain Obvious!"
I love it here. I really appreciate it when I've been gone for awhile.
Anyway, my trip to Topeka was interesting. I stayed with E's dad, who I'll call DM, and E on Monday night. DM picked me up first and we drove together to the airport to pick E up from her flight. I talked his ear off, because I talk nervously when I'm.. nervous. Ha. Anyway, E was starving when we picked her up, so we went to a Cracker Barrel near the airport to get some food. I got a baconriffic BLT, and E got her usual standby, chicken tenders, mac and cheese, corn, and mashed potatoes. DM got a salad. I chronicle this because the food was pretty bad. Mine and DM's turned out fine, but poor E had a gelatinous blob of potatoes that she couldn't eat, and her mac and cheese was a bit burnt.
Anyway, after that, we went to Macy's to buy a suit for DM for the funeral (the reason E was in town at all), which was some serious hilarity, as E appears to think that she can make her dad be something he's not. She wanted him to get new shoes that had these scary, long squared toes - they were horrifying. Apparently they're quite fashionable, but they weren't him at all. The salesman and I found a pair that worked much better for DM that E said would do, and then she made him get a new tie and belt. And a shirt. Poor man. And immediately after the shopping trip, we made the two-hour drive to DM's house, which is about halfway between Topeka and Manhattan, way out in the country. The property is gorgeous. I took pictures.
Since I didn't know the man who died (he was E's stepmother's father), I wasn't planning on going to the funeral, even though E said it would be fine if I went. (DM did not agree and was perfectly fine with me being entirely too uncomfortable with the concept of going to the funeral.) The funeral was in Wichita, so DM and E dropped me off at LK's house to spend the day and night. Well, they tried to drop me off, but LK wasn't even there, she was at her friend-boy's apartment, and her mother, MK, was there with LK's puppy, Thor. (He's a four month old Akita.)
MK had no idea I was coming. She didn't even recognize E or me until we got right up to the porch, and then she got really happy. I haven't seen her since I was about 12, so that's probably a pretty dramatic change, I don't look anything like I did when I was 12. LK is apparently a master of communication, woo. After calling LK repeatedly, we managed to communicate that she needed to arrive like now, and she eventually showed up about half an hour later. There were hellos and goodbyes, and I spent the rest of the day hanging out with LK, and ended up helping LK paint her bedroom.
The house LK and her roommate are renting is owned by MK, and they're working on fixing it up really nice, which would be fine if their contractor would cooperate. He was supposed to be there by 11:00, and didn't show up until 6:00 that evening, screwed up the crown molding so they have a six-foot space that doesn't have any, and even though he promised to install the carpet, he didn't do it. He looked kind of like a skinny Jeff Daniels, except what hair he had left was shaved.
In the evening, LK's roommate came home from work and picking her baby up from daycare. The baby was 10 months old, but about the size of a typical 7 or 8 month old, and very cute. She really likes to kick. I got to hang out with her for a little while when her mother and LK went to the neighbors' house to get their wifi password, because they were willing to share the wifi until LK can afford to get internet in the house. So MK and I played pass the baby and kept her entertained. I love babies. Then LK had to pick her friend-boy up from work, and he decided to stay over.
After the contractor and MK left, one of their friends showed up to hang out right about the time I decided to go to bed, so I slept through the rest of the night's events. Apparently they were drinking, and LK's friend-boy decided it would be a brilliant idea to jump over the porch railing to get down instead of walking between the people on the stairs, and wound up badly injuring his ankle - they weren't sure if he broke it or just sprained it badly, but he had to be carried upstairs and was up most of the night crying from the pain. They couldn't take him to the hospital because they were all unsafe to drive, so LK took him to the hospital in the morning. No idea if he's okay or not, but I hope he will be, he was a nice guy.
E and DM showed up to pick us up for lunch while she was dropping him off at the hospital, so we had to wait for her to get back, and then we went to Bobo's Drive-In, which has been operating in Topeka since 1948. Then we dropped Leah off at home and E and I went to her mother's house to visit her for a few hours, while DM went off and did some work at his company's Topeka location. He likes to work. I'm calling E's mother CR.
CR has a new dog, a seven month old Shiba Inu named Sam. She had a Shar Pei named Ginger until May, but Ginger was too old and sick and had to be put down. Sam is nuts. He tried to eat my pants. One of CR's cats tried to eat my feet, too, which I wasn't too pleased about, especially since I don't even like cats. CR was pretty cool; I haven't seen her since E's wedding, and she knows about the divorce, so at least we could speak freely about that for awhile. She's convinced E's husband is going to try to kill her or something because he's really obsessed with her. There was a long talk about how E just needs to move the hell out and let her husband deal with not being able to afford their townhouse alone, especially since until about a week ago he was planning on trying to screw her in the divorce and get all her stuff, until he realized that under Tennessee law, you get to keep everything that you had before the marriage and only the stuff you got during the marriage gets split down the middle. He even wanted to take E's dog, Buddy, who he doesn't even like.
Anyway, CR knows I'm an atheist and that E is no longer Catholic (she's been involved with First Assembly of God since we were in high school), but it really bothers her, so she gave me a rosary. Not sure what I'm going to do with it. Girl Child wants it to wear as a decoration, since it's not like I'll ever use it. I've been an atheist since I was about 10. CR is really nice, though, and was pretty happy to see us. We set up her new speakers that E got her, and we explained that the new Firefox is the only one available now and that all of her stuff is still there and that she will just have to go through the effort of reorganizing everything. Apparently she just got a new computer not too long ago, and she's really mad at it.
DM picked us up after a few hours (we were there for two or three, I'm not sure), and we drove E back to the airport to go back to Nashville, and then he drove me home. He's really a sweet man, he told me I could always call him if I'm in any trouble, even though he lives two hours away. He also really wants me to get my learner's permit set up so I can drive with him next time he goes to Nashville to see E so I can get some driving practice in. I don't think he realizes how scary merging is, haha. But her dad is really, really cool. I think I kind of annoy him a lot, what with the incessant talking and all, but he likes me anyway. And I proved I'm capable of being quiet, because he had a business phone call when he drove me home after dropping E off and I only talked when I needed to tell him that we needed to take an exit.
Anyway, it was a pretty good trip. I called home while we were driving E to the airport, and S let the Toddler talk to me on the phone, and he was all kinds of excited to talk to me. Totally made my day. He calls me "Me" now, and it's really, really cute. I missed the hell out of everyone while I was gone, too.
Last night was also movie night, and we were watching the third X-Men movie. I played FFX for ten minutes after everyone dispersed, and then I passed out. And today's been pretty ordinary, I had my camera out because there's a massive spider outside the living room window, and I was taking pictures and then decided to take a photo of Sunshine, but the Toddler photobombed it. It's hilarious. I won't share the photobomb (no faces, remember?), but I will share a picture of the spider.

The Longest Week That Ever Was
So we're officially not going to be playing the D&D campaign we've been playing anymore, because W and A haven't been able to consistently show up on time in weeks. I know they're busy, but ...
I'm just really disappointed. I was really excited about this campaign and interested in seeing how the story would play out, and I'm upset that I may never get to find out what happens next, especially as I was actually starting to get sort of good at playing.
Anyway. Today has been kind of a bad day - the car broke, and they're having to have that fixed this weekend in anticipation of J going to work on Tuesday. He's got Sunday and Monday off, though, for Father's Day and J and S's wedding anniversary. I'm going to be taking the kids on a long walk/trip to the park, and texting to see if the coast is clear before we return. Lots of water we will need. Yes.
I'm still in a lot of pain from the whole "let's risk my life for Sunshine thing" - I damaged the plantar fascia tendon in both feet because of sprinting in untied shoes without arch support. I didn't do near as much damage as S did to her foot in May, but it's quite enough to be going on with, especially with all the muscle pain and the other tendon pain I'm experiencing from that. At least I know I can still sprint when I need to, I guess. Oh, and for extra fun, I've finally started menstruating again after three months. (I know, squick, sorry.) I'm worried there's something wrong with me, but it could also be my weight or how stressful the last three years have been, or maybe something got broken when I had the miscarriage in 2009. I don't know. I hope it's just being all funky for no reason, though. That'd be nice.
Sunshine seems to be doing a little better. She's still being much more timid than usual, and she can't wag her whole butt at all right now (though she wags just the end of her tail a little bit when we pet her right after giving her her meds), but she's been a bit less stiff today, which I'm going to take as a good sign. Also, I've discovered that since she can't scratch her own itches at all right now, if I scratch her ears, I can make her moan, which is hilarious. I love those damn dogs so much. Shadow's just been himself, though I think he's being a bit more gentle with Sunshine now than he was on Thursday - he tried to play with her and flipped her onto her back and she screamed, it was scary. Anytime someone happens to say "where is it" about anything at all, he comes running, thinking we've got the laser out.
Today was pretty boring, actually, beyond the whole car thing. It feels like that didn't even happen today because today has been such a long day, even though nothing really happened today at all. I've been particularly tired all day (espresso didn't even help), and rather moody as well. I'm sure I'm just a barrel of laughs right now.
W and A were here for a couple of hours without LW because he's actually visiting his mother for once this weekend, and we just hung out because J couldn't even remember what he wanted to do for the dungeon we were about to go into. I don't know why he didn't write it all down like he did the last one, but whatever floats his boat, I guess.
I'm worried about C.
I haven't been sleeping well at all the last few weeks. I'm always tired, but I can't seem to fall asleep, and once I manage to get to sleep, I sleep so lightly that everything wakes me up, so I'm barely getting any sleep at all, and that's not helping my mood, so I've been probably a bit unnecessarily cranky lately.
This week feels like it's been about three weeks long.

Sunshine
Today has been absolutely awful.
We had to get up early this morning because Girl Child had a doctor’s appointment and S wanted to get the Toddler’s infected cuticle looked at (he bites his nails and got one of his cuticles), so I got up to help out with keeping him contained. That wasn’t all that bad, we had the usual rush and panic trying to leave because it always takes way longer to get ready and go than we expect it to, but nothing unusual. Anyway, we got the Toddler in the car and had just gotten in and were waiting for Girl Child to get outside and get in the car when suddenly there was a golden streak running across the yard.
Sunshine escaped.
S and I leaped out of the car as soon as we saw her while Girl Child just stood on the porch, but she ran to the next door neighbor’s front yard and sniffed around and then ran over to us, but before either S or I could catch her, she turned around and started racing to the end of the driveway and along the sidewalk. S and I realized at the same time that she was going to run into the street (we live on a very busy street), and started screaming for her to come back and chasing her, but she just kept running. She ran diagonally across the street, and nearly made it when she ran directly in front of a large car that was trying to brake, and she got hit twice. It was one of the most horrific things I have ever witnessed. S started screaming, and I screamed Sunshine’s name and started running (with S right behind me). I didn’t even look to see if there were any cars coming, I just ran, screaming for Sunshine, who had gotten back up and run behind a house down the street. I was terrified of what I would find, or that she’d run around and back into the street and ran the hardest I’ve ever run in my life. It was so awful. S was still coming (she can’t run very fast and she re-injured her foot halfway across the street trying to sprint after Sunshine), and I was trying to catch her when she came running around the house toward me. I missed the first time and fell, and Sunshine came up to me and I tackled her and grabbed the scruff of her neck. Just writing about it now makes my hands shake, but they weren’t shaking then. I held onto her until S reached me and she sat down with her and held onto her as tightly as she could while I ran home to get a leash.
I discovered when I got back to the house that Girl Child did not stay with the Toddler in the car, but left him alone and went to get M out of bed to help instead, but didn’t stop to find out where she was (she was still downstairs with him when I went to get the leash and they didn’t come outside until after I was running across the street) because I was so concerned about Sunshine. The leash I grabbed was a vet’s leash, so it was really easy to loop around her head (we don’t collar the dogs since we never take them for walks or anything), and I walked her back across the street since I already had her, with S close on my heels. By this time, I was having a seriously hard time keeping upright because I couldn’t get any air at all. We left Girl Child and M standing outside and took Sunshine straight inside, where S sat down on the footstool to get a look at Sunshine’s foot, because she was pretty sure it was bleeding. Once I handed Sunshine off to her, I realized I couldn’t breathe at all and started to panic because I wasn’t getting any air. S thought I was having a panic attack so didn’t stop to help me because she was trying to stave off a panic attack herself and didn’t realize I was having an actual asthma attack, so I was left alone in the house with the dogs while S was trying to take care of the Toddler, who was devastated about being left in the car alone, and Girl Child and M were outside, too, so once I was able to get some oxygen, I came outside. I don’t remember much of the next sequence of events, but S had to reschedule the doctor’s appointment for a slightly later one because we were so late by that point. I got in the car and M closed the door for me because I was so weak and shaky that I couldn’t reach it, and we went to the doctor’s office.
I had blood on my leg from Sunshine’s hurt foot - S thinks she lost a toenail, but she can’t check because Sunshine won’t let her - and I have blood on my shoelace. I didn't discover the blood until after I tied my shoes in the car - I did all of that with untied shoes, I'm lucky I didn't get myself killed. S is trying to convince me to just peroxide the blood off, but I just find it incredibly upsetting to know that Sunshine bled.
Anyway, things have calmed down a little bit. Unfortunately, we just figured out that Sunshine possibly has a broken tail, so we're going to have to take her to the vet by tomorrow to get that looked at and make sure it's not anything worse. I'm terrified that it'll turn out to be worse than we thought and we'll have to have her put down. At the moment, she's cowering in the dining room.
Today has been a shitty, shitty day so far.

Nothing to See Here
Sorry sorry sorry.
I meant to post periodically this week, but I am full of fail and keep putting it off or finding something else to do. I don't really remember what happened in the last week, nothing special. I have been acquiring a lot of obscure, badly made disaster movies made by people who don't understand science, which S and I have been watching with relish. Why do the made-for-TV ones always have horrible effects at the beginning?
Nothing of note has been happening lately. Just the usual boring stuff. The only excitement lately has been with Girl Child, who went to a water park with her best friend and got a sunburn over most of her body, resulting in sunsickness, so we've all been taking care of her (mostly S and J, but I've been helping her out when necessary). Poor kid is miserable, I hope she gets better soon. We even had to end our D&D session early on Saturday night because she fainted, it was scary. She's doing a lot better now, though.
My sleep schedule has been screwed lately. However, I figured out how to sleep much more deeply and not be woken up randomly for no reason - Benadryl. I was having some issues with being allergic to something last night, so I took three, and I ended up sleeping hard until 10:00 this morning. I actually feel rested for once, unlike yesterday, when I slept for 10 hours and still felt like poop. I got about eight hours last night (it took forever for me to fall asleep until I took the Benadryl), and I feel like something approaching normal.
I talked to E via texting last night and I may be getting the rest of my stuff back from her dad's storage soonish, depending on what S and J say about it after we rearrange bedrooms.
I sorted some of my files that are on J's computer (because my external broke and I don't have room on this computer) and deleted a lot - almost 2,000 files. I have more work to do, but things are a bit more organized than they were, even though there's a folder that decided to be broken on there that I can't delete. I hate that; not being able to do whatever I want with my files drives me nuts. If I want to delete it, just fucking let me, Windows! I deleted almost all of the pictures of the ex that I had on there, I'm finally at the point where it's not heartwrenching for me to go through them and delete the ones I don't care about. I don't want to delete everything, there's no point erasing the memories, but I don't need his baby pictures, for instance. And things were good in the beginning, before it all fell apart. Most of the files on there are actually Sims-related - I have about 35,000 individual files in my folder, and most of them pertain to custom content for Sims 2. I do love custom content, as long as it doesn't break the game. (Which is why I stopped using Inteenimater - it will sometimes cause fatal errors in the game and force you to uninstall it and thus lose the entire save file and all the work involved.)
S and I were trying to watch Category 6: Day of Destruction (having watched 10.5 and 10.5: Apocalypse over the last few days), but the Toddler is being a butt and stealing stuff from Girl Child's spot in her chair and generally being a normal toddler. All toddlers are obnoxious. It's a fact of life. So no, I'm not mad, he's just being what he is, and it wouldn't be fair to him to be mad at him for that. Yeah, it's irritating, but he'll outgrow it eventually. I'll be really happy when he gets out of the grabbing everything stage, though. And the screaming louder than the TV thing so we can't watch stuff thing. Heh. Really, though, I love him and I don't mind much, because it's so cool to watch him grow up and develop and learn and stuff.
Anyway, I don't have anything special to say, nothing interesting is going on, as I've said.

Tornadoes, Graduation(s), and New People
Things have been a little hectic here lately, which is why I haven't posted. Mom's graduation went well, except for the fact that my camera refuses to take good pictures in gigantic rooms from large distances, so I have almost no good pictures of her graduating, but I did get a very funny video of her waving her diploma at us (I was there with my aunt and uncle), and we got some group pictures, which unfortunately have the color balance messed up on them. When I put them on the computer, I'm going to edit them and hopefully fix them.
Friday was Girl Child's sixth grade graduation, and everyone in the house except the dogs and M went to see it. I got some pictures of her getting her certificates, but unfortunately missed out on getting some good pictures because the Toddler was screaming and had to be removed. Friday was a nothing-special kind of day beyond that.
Yesterday was a pretty good day. J let S and me sleep in and took care of the Toddler for awhile until we got up, partly because the Toddler woke up at midnight and didn't go back to sleep until like 5:30 and then woke up at 7:00. Nobody got much sleep, even with me going to bed at 7:30, so it was a fucked kind of morning. Then we had errands, and then S had an errand that she had to go on and I needed to get the house at least partially cleaned up because we were having a new person over, and I was having a hard time getting J out of bed, so there was a bit of a meltdown on my part because I couldn't get everything done and felt like an epic failure. The only upside of the afternoon was that the Toddler actually napped, unlike Friday when he fell asleep in the car for a few minutes and then absolutely refused to nap at home.
J's new friend from work came to visit yesterday, which was why I was cleaning so frantically. I managed to get the hallway completely clear of laundry and J took it all to the basement in trash bags for me, and J got the toys and other stuff picked up off the floor, and then we collapsed onto the furniture until J's new friend arrived. I'm not sure what to call her, her name also starts with an A, so I think I'll call her AB, which are her initials. (Thirty seconds of Facebook sleuthing to find that out. Whee.) Anyway, she was a completely new entity to me, so I was a bit shy/aloof at first, because that's just how I am with new people sometimes. It wasn't until S got home awhile later that I loosened up and got a bit more comfortable. J grilled pork chops and steaks and we had a team effort on the veggies, and then the Toddler needed a second bath because he was completely covered in food goop.
As a side note, while I was clearing out the laundry, a fat black spider fell on my chest from the inside of some clothes, and managed to bite me on my collarbone before being flung to the floor, where J killed it while I flailed hysterically and held the Toddler behind me. With a bottle of Wet. Yes. It's funny now, but at the time it was horrible. Anyway, my collarbone is itchy.
W and A didn't arrive until after 10:00, with LW, so we started game very late, and just as we were really starting to get involved in it, I heard tornado sirens. A went to the door and said that the air felt stagnant and completely still, and S jumped up and leaped across the room to her computer to check the weather radar because we don't have a weather radio right now, said that there was a tornado that looked like it was heading straight for us, and we all mobilized and started grabbing stuff. I went and scared the living hell out of Girl Child by bursting into her room and yelling the essentials at her, then grabbed the Toddler out of bed (he didn't even wake up) and ran downstairs with him. A started crying with LW in her arms because their dogs and cat were alone in their apartment and she was scared they'd die, and then she started trying to get in contact with her mother, but her phone didn't get reception in the basement, even by the window, so she tried AB's phone, which also had no reception, so I sent someone up to get my phone so A could try it, but all she could do was access the internet on it, it wouldn't call or send texts. (It limited us to emergency calls only and nobody thought to grab the house phone.) After awhile, S decided it would be safe to go back upstairs, so I put the Toddler back to bed (and luckily he didn't cry), and we called game for the night. I also managed to get LW to sleep for a little while, too, until W and A decided to go home.
This reminded me of a Thank God School's Over party in high school where there were severe storms and we ended up in the basement being terrified that we'd be blown away. I don't remember enough about that specific party to give more details than that, but it was pretty special.
J let me sleep until 9:30 this morning, and since he went to bed and I got up, the Toddler has thrown several tantrums, which somehow did not wake AB, he attempted to bite me during a time-out, and now he's chilling out in his high chair and we're just sitting around the living room.
I'm pretty sure today is going to be a nothing-much kind of day, too. That's okay, because I like it that way.

Drivel, Coffee Mud, and iTunes
That nap I had yesterday resulted in me ending up with almost no sleep at all once I went to bed because S didn't go to bed until around 2:00, so I didn't fall asleep until probably 2:30, then was woken up by J when M came home (they were trying to make the dogs stop barking, and J was shouting), which was around 5:00 this morning. Then my alarm went off at 7:00, but I ended up staying asleep until nearly 7:30, when I started getting worried about why I couldn't hear the Toddler, until I realized J had turned off the baby monitor when he went to bed.
The Toddler was fine, though, happily playing in his crib, so I went downstairs to chat with M for a bit before I needed to retrieve the kiddo, and by the time I got upstairs, S was up and the Toddler was doing something involving his diaper that I won't mention here, but it was not a fun way to start the morning, I'll tell you now.
Anyway, S has been falling asleep on the couch off and on since about 8:00, so I made epically strong coffee. The expression on her face when she tasted it was priceless. I had to bring her more sugar and creamer. This coffee is Jim-or-Davee-at-Micro-Center-strong, which means it's sentient. It's a little stronger than I intended to make it, but at least we'll have some semblance of brain function once the caffeine hits our blood streams.
My hair is getting really long, I'm thrilled. It's about as long as it was at the end of 2009, and considering how short I cut it last summer, that's definitely an improvement. My intention is to let it grow as long as possible, but keep it just above the length where I could sit on it. Then I will completely defeat the purpose of having long hair and wear it up all the time. It's starting to thicken up a little bit, too, now that I'm not using Herbal Essences and have quit dyeing it, it's getting to be really healthy.
I'm going to spend some time (read: all of my time) today organizing my mp3s, since I now have the ability to access my files. Speaking of files, I had a look at the file transfer on J's computer for my external, and I have over 45,000 files. I had no idea, that's crazy. I need to go through all of those and delete the duplicates (I know for a fact I have a lot of duplicates), and sort them into something resembling an orderly fashion. I'm also going to clean up my iTunes and resync my iPod finally (I haven't been able to sync it since February!), and then life will just be awesome and stuff. Or at least my music library will be updated.
S (Captain Gimpy) seems to be doing a bit better. Sometimes I think she overdoes it a bit trying to continue to be independent, but I've been letting her because it bugs her when I try to do everything for her. I'm just worried about her and don't want her foot to end up needing surgery or never healing. I want her to be able to walk without crutches with good reliability, and to be able to do this with a minimum of pain. I'm afraid if she does too much on her feet so soon after the injury that she'll never heal, but I don't know how to help without annoying the crap out of her.
Anyway, I'm quickly drifting into incoherence. I can't quite manage to stay on one subject for long this morning. My single focus is my music right now. And getting access to my photos from 2010 and the beginning of this year so I can add some to my Facebook, S told me ages ago that I could go crazy, but that's when I discovered that my external is very temperamental, so I'm very behind on uploading pictures. I'm feeling very tangential this morning, so hopefully I'll be able to post a more coherent update later today or tomorrow.

Captain Gimpy and the Toddler
S and I are secretly about 14 years old. ("I wish my fingernails were like yours, I hate mine." "Yeah, well, I wish my fingernails were like yours." "You shut up." "You shut up.")
I went to bed at 2:00 this morning, due to my inability to sleep, with a towel on the couch under a sheet, because the ice pack J made for S yesterday afternoon leaked very badly without our knowledge. I set my alarm clock for 7:00 and am exhausted already, and it's barely 10. I can't wait until the Toddler goes down for his nap, I may nap, too.
Today, I have made coffee, juggled the Toddler on my hip while trying to set up the high chair one handed, fed the Toddler, prepared mugs of coffee for S and myself, and made my own breakfast (Cocoa Puffs). The Toddler had a banana and Cocoa Puffs.
The Wiggles are really strange. ("Fruit Salad. Yummy yummy. Fruit Salad. Yummy yummy.")
I plan on getting all the laundry I can downstairs today, and maybe vacuuming the hallway today if I can manage it. I think I'm also making dinner, but I'm not sure what's happening with that yet, since S and I haven't really discussed it.
What is this with the Toddler's obsession with his mother's shoes? Crazy baby. He's gigantic. I remember when I met him last February, he was so little. And he barfed on me. (Well, spit up, not really barf.) He's almost up to my waist now, and he talks a little, and he is rapidly developing his own personality. It's so cool to watch someone develop and change like that.
Sometimes I think he's as close as I'll get to ever having a kid of my own.
S polished his toenails green yesterday morning. It actually looks REALLY cute, especially since he basically has his mother's feet, so his feet look really nice with polish on them, just like his momma's.
I have a huge reading list that I'm working my way through, here are the books I have checked out of the library now that I haven't read yet:
The Lost Continent: Travels In Small-Town America - Bill Bryson (currently about halfway through)
The Great Typo Hunt by Jeff Deck and Benjamin D. Herson
Grimm's Fairy Tales by The Brothers Grimm
Hans Christian Anderson's Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Anderson
(both of the fairy tale books are closer to the original stories, so there's more blood and murder and pitchforks)
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
The Time-Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Books on hold that I haven't picked up/aren't available yet:
Serenity Vol. 3: The Shepherd's Tale by Zack Whedon and Joss Whedon (I'm still waiting for Vol. 2: Better Days to be available, but I don't necessarily need to read them in order.)
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
The Canterbury Tales by Geoffery Chauser
A Girl Could Stand Up by Leslie Marshall (I've already read this a few times, but it's really good.)
Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson
Neither Here Nor There: Travels in Europe by Bill Bryson
Fly Away Home by Jennifer Weiner
Pushed: The Painful Truth About Childbirth and Modern Maternity Care by Jennifer Block
Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts
(I've got other holds, too, but they're either books I've already read a couple of times or are holds for S and the Toddler.)
Books I have out that I've already finished:
The Girl She Used to Be by David Cristofano
Nanny Returns by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus
Serenity Vol. 1: Those Left Behind by Joss Whedon
There are also a few books that I have out that I got for the Toddler, but he's not very interested in reading these days, so I may wait a few more months before getting more out for him, like when he stop trying to destroy everything in the world and actually will sit and let us read a whole book to him instead of letting us get four pages in and then wanting to run around and shred the book. Hilarious.
Anyway, I need to get going, I have to pick up my available holds. Woo-hoo! Anyway, today isn't the greatest day ever, but I'm still in a terrific mood, even with trying to keep the Toddler out of the laundry and everything else he's after. All in all, just a regular day, even with Captain Gimpy (S) being almost completely out of commission, poor thing.

Tendons and Tantrums
So today started with me going back to bed when S and the toddler got up this morning, and sleeping until it was time to put the toddler down for his nap. Today went pretty much as normal as far as days go, until S had to go to the grocery store to get J his work food, and while she was there, she managed to completely destroy her tendon in her arch and possibly her ACL. Yipee. Poor thing.
The toddler spent a good amount of the time he was awake today throwing temper tantrum after temper tantrum. He even bit me during a time-out, and screamed like he was being kidnapped when I prevented him from running into the street, which was awkward since it was during rush hour and the neighbors were out. Then Girl Child scolded me for restraining him so he wouldn't, you know, bash his face on the concrete.
Now we're sitting in the living room, S with her wrapped-up foot on a stack of pillows and an upside down pillow chair and a bendy straw taped to the straw for her Sonic drink so she doesn't have to sit completely forward every time she gets thirsty. I've managed to do something to damage my right heel and my back is killing me, so yaaay, once again we make one live person and one dead person. :P
M bought us dinner so we wouldn't have to worry about trying to figure out how to handle that with S being in so much pain, which was just awesome of him. He's so cool.
Other events of the day include me getting completely soaked trying to bathe the toddler and starting a new Bill Bryson book, which was actually written when I was two years old. The man is hilarious. I'm reading The Lost Continent: Travels in Small-Town America, and it's so funny.
Well, that's really all for today. Just every day type of stuff.
